Job Description

American Traveler seeks a skilled RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring Cerner EMR experience and a compact or MD nursing license.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1 : 6
  • Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week (7 : 00-19 : 30)
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Floating required within other med-surg tele units
  • Utilizes Cerner for charting and documentation
  • Patients may require telemetry, dysrhythmia management, rapid response team intervention, colostomy care, feeding tube care, pre / post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, and wound care
  • Scrub color is ceil blue and scrubs are not provided
  • Up to 4 hours of pre-start orientation modules are billable, with additional hours as needed
  • Travelers who have previously worked for this health system must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first two weeks
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles are considered local

    • Requirements

  • Active MD or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of med / surg telemetry nursing experience
  • Current certifications : BLS and NIHSS
  • Charge nurse experience required
  • Experience with Cerner EMR required
  • Skills in Med / Surg and cerebrovascular accident (CVA) care required
  • Two supervisor references from the past 2 years required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
