Deckhand - Port Arthur, Texas
Job duties are as follows, but not limited to :
- Securing barges together (building tow & working in fleet)
- Securing boat to barges (facing boat up)
- Line handling and affixes rigging
- Minor engine room work (oil changes, greasing, filter changes, etc.)
- Painting
- Cooking
- General housekeeping and upkeep of the vessel, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning
- Tow work, including carrying rigging, and building tow
- Loads and unloads materials
- Stand lookout watches while the vessel is underway
- Lubricates machinery and equipment
- Splices and repair wire cables
- Uses handtools
- Checks void tanks on barges for leaks
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested
Basic requirements :
Must have and maintain a TWIC.Must have and maintain a valid / current Driver's license.At least eighteen (18) years of age.Must have the ability to receive and carry out instruction.High school graduate or equivalent preferredMust have dependable transportation to designated Turn Services locations, no exceptions.Must be able to work various hours / holidays / weekends.Ability to work in a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments and priorities depending upon identified needs of the vesselAbility to work well independently as well as part of a teamPhysical Requirements :
Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test).The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up / down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces.Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditionsMust be comfortable working aboard boats and barges.Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO / AA / M / F / D / V) Employer offering competitive wages that reflect your experience and skills.
