Auditor Of Campaign Finance
This could be the most exciting auditor position in the fields of accounting and auditing! This is a professional position with good work / life balance doing meaningful work for an independent agency of the State of Nebraska. The Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission enforces the State's campaign finance laws, its lobbying laws and its governmental ethics laws. As a member of our audit team you will :
Review, analyze and audit candidate and political committee campaign filings to ensure compliance with the campaign finance provisions of the Nebraska Political Accountability and Disclosure Act.
Provide assistance to candidates, political committees, and their contributors with filing and reporting questions.
Provide assistance to candidates and political committees regarding other regulations such as the permissible use of campaign funds.
Respond to questions from members of the general public seeking candidate and campaign finance information maintained by the Commission.
Conduct inquiries and use investigative methods to reconcile reporting differences and to resolve matters involving detection of errors, irregularities, and failure to file.
Work with the General Counsel for investigation when campaign violations are discovered or campaign finance complaints are filed.
Review transactions for accuracy within the database system performing an internal audit function.
Assist with updating campaign finance brochures and guides.
Periodically assist with accounting functions for internal control purposes and other related duties.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Auditor or the Deputy Director.

Note the Commission does not sponsor non-immigrant work visas for this position. Hiring Rate : Pay range is $22.975 - $33.867 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and / or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting (see also Legal Requirements).
Legal Requirements : Positions in this classification are subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. The basic requirement is a Bachelor's degree in business administration or the equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing. Any combination of education with a concentration in accounting and auditing experience acceptable to the Auditor of Public Accounts, may be substituted for the educational requirements in Section 002.01.
Preferred Qualifications : Previous experience working in auditing or accounting positions.
