Unit Tele (more of a stepdown acuity)

Job Duties :
Answering call lights, weights, ADLs, daily cares, vitals, blood sugars, assisting nurses, and more "
Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS
Common diagnoses / Types of patients CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, Diabetes, CAD, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Pneumothorax, post cath lab patients- will not pull sheaths but would ideally have experience with TR bands and Fem stops
Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must Have : 2 years of experience
Prefer PCU / Stepdown experience
Prefer : post cath lab and post stroke patients "

Are there tele / monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Yes, tele techs located on the unit and oversee multiple units within the hospital.
Charge Nurse / House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? "Charge nurse- will have a modified patient assignments; designated code recorders and will respond to all RRTs and Codes in the hospital.
Travelers may be asked to step into charge role, if comfortable. "
RT Equipment (i.e., Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, etc.) "RT available- will manage resp equipment and administer resp treatments.
Resp Equip : Cpap, Bipap, & High Flow (No vents or trachs)"
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "0700-1930 and 1900-0730.
Will work with travelers on scheduling, but ask travelers to be flexible and fill gaps in permanent scheduling
Schedule made out for 6 weeks at a time
For nights, they do there best to not make them work every other day "

Floating Requirements? "Will float to like units and Med / Surg at times. May also float to Boise Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center to like units and MedSurg if needed. May also float to ICU if experienced
Floating Notice : Goal is for a 2 hr notice prior to shift start if being asked to float to another facility, however, staff / travelers may be asked to float mid-shift when necessary. Floating is done on a rotational basis. Dependent on staffing needs and last minute changes / sick calls.

Additional Notes The unit uses a Team Nursing Model, team oriented, and they are considered traveler friendly- they've had a lot of travelers who have extended or become permanent staff.
