As a DSP, you’ll be a vital part of that mission—providing hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy every day.
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities, implementing personal plans, and fostering a safe, respectful, and engaging home environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Individual Support & Supervision
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents
- Assist with activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene, mobility, meals, toileting)
- Administer and document medications per policy
- Support residents in preparing meals, attending appointments, and engaging in community activities
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents’ rights and choices
B. Program Implementation
Participate in the development and implementation of Personal PlansImplement behavior support strategies and skill-building programsDocument progress, complete assessments, and communicate updates to the Program ManagerAttend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planningC. Community & Household Engagement
Plan and supervise community outings and leisure activitiesAssist with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal prepSupport residents in developing independent living skillsSubstitute for the CILA Home Supervisor as neededD. Organizational Responsibilities
Comply with all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standardsReport incidents, suspected abuse, or misconduct in accordance with regulationsParticipate in required training and maintain DSP certificationMaintain a clean, organized, and functional workspaceEducation :
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education preferred)Experience :
Experience working with individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities preferredSkills & Abilities :
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBasic computer literacy and documentation skillsPhysical ability to lift, assist, and support residents as neededRequirements :
Valid Illinois driver’s license and automobile insuranceDSP certification (or willingness to complete training upon hire)Closed-toe, non-slip footwear requiredProfessional, safe attire appropriate for direct careLooking for someone to work 7 : 00am to 3 : 00pm shft Saturday and Sundays
