Interview Process

Hybrid Schedule

Hybrid : Onsite from day 1; Tuesdays and Wednesdays required onsite. No remote option. Local candidates strongly preferred. Non-local must relocate at own expense when acceptance with no delays & follow the hybrid schedule.

Job Description

We are looking for a DBA to join the team. This is not a short-term contract. We would prefer to eventually move the person to being a full-time employee, if possible, but the primary goal is to have an employee that can meet our skill requirements. The selected candidate may stay as a contractor or pursue full-time state employment.

Responsibilities

Experience with formal change control environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
40 hours per week Monday through Friday with two days onsite.
Rotation on call Saturday morning till Monday morning; may be required to assist after initial learning period.
Overtime and weekend work are rare and must be scheduled and approved by our customer.
Environment predominately Sybase with SQL Server; moving from Sybase to pure SQL Server in approximately 3 years.
Sybase 15.7 on Solaris in an X86 hardware environment within local network.
SQL Server environment mixed versions on mixed Windows Server versions; upcoming project to update versions.
Need experience with both Sybase and SQL Server; UNIX background, CRON jobs, command line experience.
Junior DBA level; assist with tasks, particularly after hours implementations to reduce overall DBA time.
Weekly data fixes occurring Thursday and Friday.
Secondary goal : take work off SQL Server DBAs; requires experience with Windows Servers, SQL Server, clusters, Disaster Recovery, migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
Minimal occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Sybase to SQL Server (4-5 years minimum experience with Sybase and SQL) – Required.

Experienced in troubleshooting.

Unix / Solaris / Linux experience.

Clear and concise written and verbal communication is crucial.
