Role and Responsibilities

• Thermal Plastic Welding : Perform welding on thermoplastic materials using heat tools such as hot air guns, extrusion welders, or automated machines to join plastic parts or components.
• Fabrication and Repairs : Fabricate, modify, or repair plastic parts, pipes, tanks, and containers by welding together thermoplastic materials based on blueprints or specifications.
• Surface Preparation : Prepare surfaces of thermoplastic materials by cleaning, grinding, or sanding to ensure proper adhesion and a strong weld joint.
• Quality Control : Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Perform tests as needed to verify the strength and integrity of the welds.
• Safety Compliance : Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), while performing welding tasks. Ensure that all work areas are clean and free of hazards.
• Equipment Maintenance : Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment is calibrated properly.
• Documentation : Maintain records of welding activities, including material used, time spent, and any special procedures followed. Report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
• Collaboration : Work with engineering and production teams to determine welding requirements and assist in the development of welding procedures and specifications.
• Training and Development : Stay up to date with new welding techniques, equipment, and industry standards. Participate in training and development programs as necessary.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses / spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
