Summary

The Child Development Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the overall administration, leadership, and daily operations of the Mundelein Park & Recreation District's licensed childcare and preschool programs, including Big & Little Child Development Center and Learning Center Preschool. This position directly oversees the Learning Center, including a staff of part-time teachers and assistants, and assists in supervising Big & Little staff, consisting of both full-time and part-time teachers. Direct supervision of the following positions Preschool Assistant Teacher, Preschool Camp Assistant Teacher, Preschool Camp Coordinator, Preschool Camp Teacher, Preschool Coordinator and Preschool Teacher The role ensures compliance with DCFS regulations, coordinates curriculum and classroom environments, and fosters strong communication with families. This position serves as the acting Child Development Director in absence of the Child Development Director and may assume teaching duties throughout the Child Development operation as needed.

Qualifications - Education, Experience and Training

Two years of credit (60 semester hours) from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 21 semester hours in Early Childhood Development; or two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care; and 30 semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university with 10 semester hours in Early Childhood Development and proof of enrollment in an accredited college until 2 years credit and 21 semester hours in Early Childhood Development have been achieved, and one of the following :

• Gateway to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential, or
• 3 semester hours of college credit in administration, leadership, or management, or
• 3 points of credential ‐ approved training in administration, leadership, or management.

Must be 21 years of age. CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required, and if not certified, must become certified within 90 days of employment. Must possess a Certified Food Manager Certification within 90 days of employment. Must complete Mandated Reporter Training.
