While prior experience working for a personal injury law firm is preferred, we are more than willing to train an eager applicant with a strong background in accounting / bookkeeping experience using Quickbooks Online. Position Overview :
The Accountant / Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the financial health of the firm by ensuring accurate accounting records, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires a blend of financial acumen and teamwork, as you will work closely with attorneys, support staff, our external Accountant, and external CPA to ensure the firm operates efficiently. If you're detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to grow, we'll train you on personal injury law accounting and our Filevine case management system.
Key Responsibilities :
- Bookkeeping & Accounting : Record, categorize, and reconcile all transactions daily in QuickBooks Online. Manage vendor payments, payroll entries, and firm operating accounts with precision. Maintain accurate ledgers, expense tracking, and account balances across all firm accounts.
- Financial Reporting & Forecasting : Prepare monthly financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to help the firm meet its financial goals. Generate clear, actionable summaries for management review. Assist with financial projections, KPI tracking, and data entry for firm performance metrics (training provided).
- Trust Accounting & Compliance : Maintain and reconcile IOLTA trust accounts in strict compliance with Nevada's ethical rules that govern law firms, in conjunction with the oversight of the managing attorney. Prepare and oversee settlement disbursement sheets for personal injury cases, ensuring every transaction aligns with legal and ethical standards.
- The firm will provide full training on personal injury settlement accounting, IOLTA compliance, and Filevine trust workflows for the right candidate eager to learn.
- Payroll & Tax Coordination : Auditing payroll processing, ensuring accurate deductions, timely payments, and compliance with tax regulations. Collaborate with our external Bookkeeper and CPA on quarterly and annual filings and financial reviews.
- Financial Analysis & Strategy : Provide insights and analysis on the firm's financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities for efficiency and growth. Support management in data-driven decision-making to strengthen profitability and operational effectiveness.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement : Work closely with staff and management to ensure seamless financial operations across departments. Recommend and help implement improvements in workflow, automation, and accounting accuracy.

While prior experience working for a personal injury law firm is preferred, if you're detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to grow, we'll train you on personal injury law aspects of accounting and train you on how to use our case management software called Filevine. However, at a minimum , all applicants must have the following qualifications :
Master's degree (ideally) or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting3+ years of bookkeeping / accounting experienceMastery in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365 applications such as ExcelStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.High ethical standards and accountability.Understanding of financial statements, KPIs, and data and the ability to report them to management.Eagerness to learn finance operations and other software related to personal injury law.Benefits
