A day in this role

Picture your morning in Britton, SD : you open a fresh customer print, assess materials, calculate feeds, speeds, and cycle times, and sketch out tooling and fixture concepts to build a reliable quote. By mid-morning, you’re shaping efficient milling strategies in your CAM environment (GibbsCAM experience is a plus), posting clean G- and M-code, then heading to the shop floor to set up the CNC mill—dialing in tools, clamping fixtures, and running a first article. Throughout the day, you keep a close eye on cycle performance and part quality, making smart adjustments to offsets, tool paths, and parameters to keep throughput high and scrap low. You collaborate with engineering and production teammates to troubleshoot, you log every run, tooling change, and maintenance check, and you model best-in-class safety practices.

What you’ll handle

  • Generate accurate quotes from customer drawings by determining materials and estimating feeds, speeds, cycle times, tooling, and fixturing needs.
  • Create and refine CNC milling programs from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, ensuring correct tooling and fixtures are in place.
  • Monitor machine performance, adjusting as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks to sustain optimal machine performance.
  • Partner with engineering and production to troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges.
  • Maintain precise records of production runs, tooling changes, and maintenance activities.
  • Champion safety protocols and support a safe, clean work environment.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a technical credential in CNC programming is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of CNC programming experience focused on milling processes.
  • Fluency in G-code and M-code.
  • Hands-on with CAD / CAM platforms (GibbsCAM preferred) and CNC machine setup.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to read / interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Location

This role is based in Britton, SD. Relocation to join our on-site team is encouraged.
