Overview
Engineering Manager - Substations at Morgan Sindall Infrastructure. Location : Wales / Hybrid. The Energy Business Unit is delivering the backbone of tomorrow's energy grid and is strengthening engineering capability to deliver major overhead line (OHL) and transmission projects across the UK.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with Substations experience to oversee the day-to-day management of internal and external engineering resources, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in line with project requirements for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership. You will provide technical leadership across pre-contract and delivery stages, identify temporary works needs, allocate resources, and act as a key point of contact for customers. The role includes managing relationships with consulting engineers, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, and driving a culture of innovation, improvement, and knowledge sharing across the Infrastructure business unit. You will support bids, tender reviews, and pre-contract activities, as well as the mobilisation of new contracts, ensuring health, safety, quality, and environmental standards are met. This position also involves leading engineering administration functions, overseeing compliance records, and representing the company on industry forums.
