Overview
The security manager, working closely with Brown University DPS, will be responsible for managing and overseeing the security of Brown RISD Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, ensuring that all personnel and assets are protected from threats. This individual will implement and develop security policies and procedures, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and monitor security operations while working with relevant third parties within Brown University and beyond. The role requires a proven background in security management, with a strong preference for experience in an educational or nonprofit environment. The candidate should have a track record of implementing security protocols and systems to improve safety and emergency preparedness. This role includes leading and collaborating with various agencies, such as law enforcement and campus safety, to build effective partnerships. Responsibilities include managing and supervising a team of security personnel or external vendors and maintaining full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and institutional safety requirements. Major Responsibilities
- Security Operations Management - Oversee daily security operations, monitor security systems (CCTV, alarms), manage scheduling for security personnel and contractors, enforce entry procedures, access control, and emergency response protocols, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Policy, Communication & Incident Response - Serve as the primary point of contact for security matters, liaising with students, faculty, staff, and external authorities (including law enforcement). Develop and maintain security policies, attend regular briefings, provide updates to Hillel and DPS leadership, respond to and investigate incidents, conduct security drills and audits, and ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents.
- Day-to-Day Facility Security & Engagement - Maintain a visible security presence, greet and monitor visitors, inspect packages, conduct routine facility inspections, respond to building issues, and foster a sense of security and trust among building users.

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Management, or Public Administration, with four to six years of experience in security or law enforcement-related fields, and a clear track record of managing daily operations, personnel, and vendors.Application Requirements
