The VDC Engineer supports the successful delivery of construction projects by leveraging advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and workflows. This role bridges the gap between design and construction, providing technical expertise across estimating, project management, field operations, prefabrication, and engineering teams. The VDC Engineer ensures seamless coordination, accuracy, and efficiency from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in VDC / BIM coordination efforts across multiple disciplines to identify and resolve design conflicts.
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed 3D Revit models and produce 2D documentation to support fabrication and installation.
- Create comprehensive system layouts for power, lighting, and control systems, including views, dimensions, and annotations for field use.
- Collaborate with project managers, foremen, engineers, and other trades to produce accurate and coordinated drawings for construction.
- Support prefabrication initiatives by providing model-based information to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain model standards and ensure all deliverables meet project and company quality expectations.
Qualifications
Required :
3–5 years of experience using Autodesk Revit in a construction or design environment.Minimum of 2 years of experience with an electrical contracting firm or A / E (architecture / engineering) practice.Strong understanding of construction documentation and building systems.Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Willingness to travel up to 10% to job sites across multiple states.Preferred :
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and Bluebeam Revu.Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit.Experience with laser scanning and integration of point cloud data into BIM models.Familiarity with Trimble robotic layout and laser scanning technologies.Seniority level
