Responsibilities

  • Travel : 100% nationwide travel for extended periods of time; travel expenses will be covered.
  • Field Engineering responsibilities include : closeout redlines, test audits, lessons learned, warranties, and product submittals.
  • Redline management : overseen by leads and superintendents for submitting changes to the Statement of Work; redlines are completed and submitted to engineering by Field Engineers; engineering will create an internal calendar to track tasks and deadlines; build-out will involve extensive redlining due to measurements, equipment placements, grounding / bonding; Field Engineers verify that infrastructure is installed to design / spec and finalize redlines for closeout if changes occur.
  • Fiber scope : use an internal tracker to manage redlines for ISP; update design provided by IES customers to reflect past changes; Field Engineers verify all fiber scope.
  • Copper scope : maintain internal tracker for close-out; Field Engineer may serve as point of contact to ensure installation matches print; redline and submit for review as needed; verify before close-out.
  • Network : if redlining of network is required, Field Engineer collaborates with the team to configure details and leads most responsibilities.
  • RFI referencing / implementation : Field Engineer references RFIs on redlines as a final task before QA review; RFIs are to be adopted / collaborated upon; RFI acceptance / rejections communicated to applicable teams by the Field Engineer; any design-related feedback from RFIs is entered as a lessons learned by the engineering team.
  • Test Audits : Field Engineer conducts and verifies all audits after project completion; includes verifying cable schedule and organizing projects for the team to facilitate auditing; ensure 100% verification that testing projects match prints; create and share testing projects with the team as areas are ready; initiate audits as testing proceeds and manage re-tests with an expected completion date; finalize audits after retests are completed; align with the project schedule for creation and close-out auditing.
  • Lessons Learned : actively update the lessons learned document throughout the build; after each project, teams finalize the standardized template for submission, drawing information from the lessons learned tracker; installation teams should continuously fill out the tracker during build.
  • Warranties : Field Engineer collects and forwards information toward processing / completion toward the end of the build; a designated team member submits required documents to obtain warranties.
  • Product Submittals : Field Engineer completes product submittals (initial task after RFP issuance); use template with additions / subtractions; verify BOM against POs and obtain product sheets for submittal.
  • Labels : Field Engineer assists in printing labels for installation teams; aim to print labels before installation to avoid delays; organize bins per area with a sign-out sheet for leads; email engineering for any reprints with reason.
  • RFIs : Field Engineer may oversee RFIs before submission; submit RFIs collaboratively; RFIs with design-related feedback are captured as lessons learned; communicate RFIs' acceptance / rejection to the applicable teams.
  • Design (Shop Drawings) : Field Engineer may oversee design work, verify and brainstorm areas needing improvement, review and submit into BIM360, and maintain revisions and hyperlinks.
  • Areas of focus : Infrastructure (Grounding / Bonding), Copper, Fiber, Detail sheet(s).

Qualifications

  • Physical and Mental Requirements : Must be self-motivated, positive, professional, and capable of leading others to drive project process improvements; promote the company culture and mission; possess problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; ability to read, write, and give oral presentations; diagnose and fix issues with existing equipment and new installations; be enthusiastic, patient, and a critical thinker; excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to interpret blueprints and project documents (specifications, reports, quality requirements).
  • Travel : Must be able to travel within branch and / or regional territory as needed.
  • Education, Certification, License, and Skills : High School diploma or GED equivalency required; Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3-4 years of commercial low-voltage / structured cabling experience; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project); valid driving standards; ability to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously; demonstrated ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed tasks, and manage to final completion and customer turnover.
  • Experience : Minimum 0-2 years listed; no minimum education requirement other than High School; additional licensing or certifications not specified beyond above.
