Description :
The Process Engineer in Mississippi is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of wood fiber composite panel manufacturing processes. This role ensures that all formulations provide adequate manufacturability while meeting required product performance specifications and quality standards. The Composite Panel Process Engineer will collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, research, and quality teams to optimize product performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Chemistry, Wood Science, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science or related fields.
- 5 years of experience in the wood products industry with extensive experience with composite panel production.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is highly desired.
Responsibilities :
- Act as a crucial link in capital project pipeline development with accurate data capture and thorough analysis. Also responsible for development of process specs to be used in capital equipment specification.
- Develop process documentation including work instructions, control plans and visual aids
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Facilitate raw material qualification events in conjunction with research and plant operations teams
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for composite panel issues.
- Manage experiments to evaluate the use of alternate raw materials
- Manage the design, development, and implementation of wood fiber composite panel production processes
- Orchestrate process validation exercises
- Oversee raw material screening and routine testing
- Provide data analysis and technical support to manufacturing and quality functions.
- Provide process related training to operations personnel to enhance troubleshooting skills
- Serve as a process expert for the site composite panel production processes
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to cost reduction efforts.
- Train and mentor team members on composite panel production and testing best practices and safety procedures.
- Work with equipment suppliers, Quality Managers, and other technical staff to stabilize and control manufacturing processes if they waver.
