Description :

The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic.

They will assist providers in the management and treatment of customers.

Customers come from diverse backgrounds requiring individualized care.

The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative support and delegated tasks.

Delegable tasks are described by the relevant professional boards.

The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Manager, and Providers.

Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding progress and concerns is essential.

Clinical Care :

The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks.

These tasks include standard rooming processes, administering immunizations, injections, and medications as directed.

Laboratory specimen collection may also be required.

Depending on the specialty and clinic location, they may provide telephone support.

Facilitating communication between customers and providers, and assisting with prescription refills may be part of the role.

If capable, the Medical Assistant may perform x-ray duties and phlebotomy.

They may also conduct clinic laboratory tests.

Clinic Support :

The Medical Assistant may provide support to the clinic front desk.

They will assist with ordering and stocking supplies.

Additional tasks may include assistance with prior authorizations.

Other :

The Medical Assistant is accountable for demonstrating proficiency in the required skills.

They are responsible for maintaining skill proficiency and improvement where necessary.

They are expected to accept other duties as assigned to promote organizational goals.

The role involves taking direction from physicians, providers, registered nurses, and clinic supervisors.

Compliance :

The Medical Assistant will understand and follow established principles and standards.

They will protect customer and team member privacy and only access information as needed.

They are responsible for reporting violations or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Recognizing and complying with legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements is part of the role.
