Position Duties : WITS Engineering

  • Field check current WITS documenting detailed equipment in each station including nut runners, controllers, scanners, tool rails, material racks, platforms etc.
  • Attend WITS deep dives for process changes for new model and documenting moves of all equipment to future locations
  • Work with Execution ME's to obtain the future tooling required for the new model
  • Document all new tooling in all production stations
  • Print equipment labels for all facility equipment being relocated, abandon in place, remaining in place, Demolition
  • Manage labeling of all equipment in the future process stations
  • During shut down manage and document future equipment in each production station for new model process
  • Maintain WITS and document changes during pilot builds to new process

  • Develop layouts for the kitting / sequencing areas.
  • Work with the plant IEs, tech center IEs, IT (for pick lights, scanners & tablets), team leaders and contractors.
  • Develop kitting areas based on part information and usage from the PFEP. (Plan For Every Part)
  • Possible involvement / input in the design of kitting carts.
  • Develop execution drawings and WITS (Workstation Installation Tracking Sheet).
  • Verify the installed items match the layouts, if not - update drawings to as-built state.
  • Perform field checks for interferences and check original drawing accuracy.
  • Drawings Typically Include :

  • Material (container size, part number, qty., usage, etc.)
  • Material presentation (dolly, flow rack, riser, lift / tilt table)
  • Material stops (angle iron on floor to keep material from being pushed into the kitting cell)
  • Material signs (conduit for hanging it from)
  • High bay racks
  • Lighting
  • Utilities requirements (Ethernet, device net, power, air, FRL)
  • Scanner, HMI, printer, pick light (location)
  • Cable trays
  • Operator Fans (in some cases)
  • Lift assists
  • Empty container / dunnage (location)
  • Operator workstations (table, trash, etc.)
  • AGC paths
  • Sub assembly tables (location)
  • Skills and Experience Required :

  • Previous Industrial / Manufacturing / LMS engineering experience.
  • Knowledgeable in Lean Material Strategy / Kitting principles.
  • Must know AutoCAD; FactoryCad knowledge is preferred.
  • Automotive experience is a plus.
  • Must be a team player, pro-active and be able to perform under limited supervision.
