Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer III - Protection & Controls  to join our Electrical Design Group located in our Charlotte, NC office . Remote candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include preparation of P&C drawings, substation project design, studies, and technical documents in the support of the design of substation engineering projects throughout the country.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to :

• Participate in the detailed design of medium to high-voltage utility substations
• Develop detailed design, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit, and cable sizing / routing, and selection of substation P&C equipment
• Translate written scope documents into comprehensive P&C substation design and drawing package using good engineering judgment and industry / client standards with minimal oversight
• Analyze system faults and disturbances to optimize protection strategies using standard industry software (ETAP, Aspen OneLiner, etc.)
• Integrate substation automation systems with SCADA and communication protocols.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE)
• Support project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders
• Mentor junior engineers and designers in protection and control principles and practices
• Occasional travel required
