Detention Account Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of detention accounts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and company policies
  • Monitor driver detention events and proactively engage with customers to seek timely resolution and compensation
  • Analyze load data and customer delivery schedules to identify detention opportunities
  • Prepare and submit accurate billing documentation related to detention charges
  • Maintain detailed records of communication, billing activity, and account status
  • Collaborate with the Detention Administrators and Operations teams to support data accuracy and documentation
  • Generate and present detention performance reports to management and stakeholders
  • Resolve disputes professionally while maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Identify process improvements to maximize detention recovery and reduce operational delays

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or freight billing (detention or accessorial billing experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of detention policies, industry practices, and customer service protocols
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools
  • AS400 is a plus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze large data sets to identify trends and billing opportunities
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus
