Sterling Engineering is looking for an Assistant Quality Manager for an injection mold client of ours in Elgin, IL. This role supports a growing manufacturing operation with both automotive and industrial components, serving major customers within the industry.
Job Duties
- Support and oversee daily quality operations across all production shifts
- Supervise 24 quality team members including Quality Technicians, Auditors, and Final Inspectors
- Drive compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO standards for automotive customers
- Lead and participate in internal and external quality audits
- Oversee PPAP, metrology, and documentation activities for injection molding operations
- Provide technical guidance and training for quality personnel on measurement, inspection, and reporting
- Partner closely with production and engineering teams to identify root causes, corrective actions, and process improvements
- Maintain quality systems and ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements (Automotive and Industrial sectors)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance and reduce customer complaints
- Lead efforts in product validation, visual inspection processes, and plastic component sorting for filters and molded parts
- Act as a key liaison for customer quality issues and audits
Qualifications
