Responsibilities Work in a Neuro-focused Medical Surgical unit at a hospital setting Patient population includes general medicine with a focus on neurological diagnoses Staff-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 6 Night shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend is required, totaling 5-6 weekend shifts in the contract period Float required, with travelers expected to float first as needed Unit uses EPIC for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication Manager schedules shifts Unit orientation is 24 hours Navy blue scrubs required Up to 7 days of time off may be requested at booking; no additional RTO is allowed after assignment is booked Travelers float first when required Participation as part of a Storm or Hurricane Team may be required during emergencies Unit consolidation or reassignment to other units in the centralized office may be necessary during contract Orientation provided at the start of employment Must be willing to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations Requirements Current NC or compact RN license Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg RN experience Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Must demonstrate teamwork and a focus on patient safety Must pass EKG testing prior to start Experience with EPIC documentation preferred NIH Stroke and neuro experience preferred, but not required Experience or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626198.
