EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in libraries and maker spaces. Must complete pre-employment testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Plans,promotes, and presents innovative programs for the Maker Lab workspaces and / orat off-site visits;Sharesmaker information, activities, and programs through communityoutreachResponsiblefor maintaining an attractive and engaging environment in the Maker Labworkspaces through high quality patron interactions, dynamic displays, andmoreProvidestraining for all equipment and troubleshoots technology as neededResponsiblefor Maker Lab, classroom, and workspace closing procedures when scheduled fornight and weekend closingsParticipatesin department meetings, attends regular training related to library and MakerSpace workRemainsaware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action asneededKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of educationand experience in libraries and maker spacesKnowledge and proven experience with a variety of maker activitiesand / or technology, including (but not limited to) 3d printing (slicing andrendering), archival digitization, laser cutting / etching (e.g. Glowforge,XTool), sewing, embroidery, desktop cutting (e.g. Cricut, Silhouette), digitaldesign (e.g. Adobe, Canva), handicrafts, and / or weavingComfort with learning, utilizing, and teaching others theactivities and technologiesComfort interacting with a wide range of patrons of all ages andabilitiesProficient with technology and the ability to troubleshootequipment and softwareExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to establish deadlines, monitor progress, and work wellwith a teamStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsValid driver’s license with the ability to drive to otherlibraries or community outreachThe library accepts applications with cover letter and resume when a job position is available.
