Accountant
We are partnering with a well-established labor organization that represents skilled trades professionals across North America to hire a hands-on accountant. This is a 100% onsite role (no exceptions) in a supportive, family-oriented work environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven, member-focused setting and enjoys the variety that comes with supporting a dynamic labor union. The position involves core accounting work with exposure to payroll, fund management, investments, and convention support.
Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate with banks to address and resolve issues.
- Prepare monthly investment analysis and reconciliations.
- Maintain and update fixed asset schedules.
- Provide bookkeeping support for multiple funds with accurate record-keeping.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly invoices related to shared services agreements.
- Record journal entries and analyze property management reports.
- Provide payroll support, including :
Processing bi-weekly payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees and annual filings
Reconciling bi-weekly hours for U.S. employeesSupporting burial benefit processingPrepare financial documentation for internal and external audits.Support conventions and events, including processing payments, reimbursements, and issuing tax forms (1099s / T-4As).Prepare quarterly account revaluations for accurate financial statements.Collaborate on other accounting projects as needed.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent hands-on accounting experience)35 years of accounting experience with solid knowledge of standard accounting practicesProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and ADP a plus (not required)Ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlinesStrong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretionTeam-oriented, eager to learn, and adaptableCompensation and benefits vary by compensation type and may include paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, and additional optional benefits.
