My client is an established civil and underground utilities contractor focused on large-scale residential and commercial developments across Southern California. They are seeking a seasoned Underground Utilities Estimator to join their team and play a key role in pricing, bidding, and securing upcoming infrastructure projects tied to rapid regional growth.
About the Opportunity
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in wet and dry utility estimating who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. My client manages a wide range of site development work including water, sewer, storm drain, fire line, joint trench, and related earthwork packages for both public and private clients.
The selected Estimator will partner closely with project management and operations teams to ensure accurate takeoffs, scope reviews, and competitive bid proposals on projects ranging from $1M to $25M+.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for underground utility and site work scopes
- Review project plans, specifications, and addenda to identify risk factors and cost-saving opportunities
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and engineers for pricing and technical input
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of regional construction costs, production rates, and market conditions
- Support project handoff meetings and assist operations teams during preconstruction and buyout phases
- Track bid results and contribute to continuous estimating process improvements
Preferred Background
