That analyze tissues, cells, and organs removed during surgery to diagnose conditions like cancer, infections, and other diseases. Key Responsibilities : Examination of Tissue Samples : Examine biopsies and surgical specimens, such as tissues removed during surgeries, to diagnose diseases. Perform macroscopic and microscopic examinations, often using microscopes and advanced diagnostic tools. Diagnosis and Reporting : Provide detailed diagnostic reports that include findings and possible prognoses. Communicate findings to surgeons, oncologists, and other medical professionals for treatment planning. Collaboration with Clinical Teams : Work closely with other medical professionals, including surgeons, oncologists, and radiologists, to develop treatment plans. Assist in determining the stage of disease (e.g., cancer) by analyzing surgical specimens. Quality Control and Supervision : Supervise pathology laboratory technicians and residents.
