Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position working across both general pediatrics and PICU units with BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Responsibilities
Work in a 15-bed Pediatric Unit and a 5-bed PICU within a hospital settingServe patients ages 0-18 with occasional stable adult overflowCare for medical, surgical, psychiatric, and trauma cases, as well as advanced and critical care pediatricsGeneral Pediatrics RN ratio is 1 : 5, Advanced Care Pediatrics RN ratio is 1 : 1-2Required to float to NICU for feeder / grower assignments at a 1 : 3 ratio12-hour variable shifts with weekend rotation every other weekendMay be placed on low census / on-call statusUses Epic for charting and Omnicell for medication managementNavy scrubs requiredPerform assessments, administer medications, and educate pediatric patients and their familiesRN and nurse aids perform their own lab draws and IV starts (ultrasound available for difficult IVs)Support team includes CNA, floating charge nurse, nurse clinician, case management, social work, respiratory therapy, hospitalist and pediatric APP supportOne-day facility orientation (online and in-person), plus two-day unit orientation with preceptorAll holidays coverage is expectedOnly pre-approved time off is allowedTraveler-friendly, supportive culture emphasizing learning and growthFree parking is available in a parking garageRequirements
Active RN license through the South Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact licenseBLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications requiredCompletion of an approved nursing education programMinimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience requiredFirst-time travelers accepted only with more than 2 years of experienceProficient in Epic charting systemExperience with physical assessment across the lifespan and care for mechanically ventilated patients requiredAbility to titrate drips in a PICU environmentMust reside outside a 100-mile radius from the facilityBenefits
