Schedule / Hours : Monday-Friday (25-29 hours)
Pay : $15.00-$15.25 per hour
This position is responsible for :
The Truck Driver & Warehouse Worker is responsible for safely operating Salvation Army trucks to pick up donations, deliver merchandise, and dispose of unusable items, while ensuring compliance with traffic laws and organizational standards. This role includes lifting, loading, unloading, and organizing donated goods, operating warehouse equipment such as balers and forklifts, and maintaining the cleanliness and security of the warehouse. The individual also assists with special projects, donation drives, and customer interactions, ensuring accountability, efficiency, and professional representation of The Salvation Army at all times.
Key Responsibilities :
- Drive Salvation Army trucks to pick up donations and deliver merchandise.
- Load, unload, and secure donated items such as furniture and clothing.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe; operated balers and forklifts.
- Interacted professionally with donors, customers, and the public.
- Assist with donation drives, special projects, and other assigned tasks.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.Ability to organize pick-up tickets and to schedule route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.Employees in this position must meet all DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position at all times.Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck.Skill in paying attention to detail, particularly in the manipulation and recording of numbers.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to compile and summarize information.Ability to handle several tasks at the same time and work well under pressure.Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to communicate the English language.Ability to lift scales, hand trucks, and dollies.Ability to perform route mathematical calculations.Ability to occasionally lift boxes of materials, donations.Ability to load, unload, secure and protect goods.Qualifications
What We Are Looking For In You :
High school diploma or G.E.D.; One year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van and Two years experience in sorting, receiving, storing, loading and unloading of materials in a warehouse or store setting.Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and Certifications :
