Responsibilities
- Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
- Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.
- Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, provide a clean, organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop.
- Promote GameStop's guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Monitor associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Ensure onboarding and training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure associates know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates following guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain guest service levels.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Perform inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct counts and report variances to the Store Manager / District Manager.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls promptly; label boxes with packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per company guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures; follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills And Abilities
Possess an outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit.Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.Work independently and as part of a team; meet performance expectations.Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills.Complete required paperwork properly; follow written or diagrammed instructions.Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days / week availability.Ability to work standing and moving for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs; perform physical tasks as required.Pay
