CAM Programmer : Rockford, IL

We are seeking an experienced CAM Programmer to join our clients’ team and help create and optimize CNC programs, improve tooling efficiency, and enhance machining performance. You’ll work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and operations teams to optimize tooling, minimize setups, and troubleshoot machining processes. Your expertise will directly contribute to increased efficiency, reduced scrap, and enhanced manufacturing quality. Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the administration and use of CAM software to develop CNC programs and ensure alignment with part drawings and setup documentation
  • Validate and refine CAM programs on CNC machines to achieve process capability and production release
  • Assist in distributing CNC programs in a controlled manner to ensure process consistency and quick-changeover setup preparation
  • Troubleshoot production and machining issues, implementing corrective actions to reduce scrap and rework
  • Analyze equipment and tooling for potential improvements in efficiency, cost reduction, and performance
  • Apply a strong knowledge of cutting tools and machining processes to enhance production quality
  • Mentor and coach setup employees on CNC best practices, tooling selection, and cost-effective tool life management

Skills & Experience :

  • Education : HSD / GED, required, 2-year technical degree or equivalent education & technical experience, preferred
  • Experience : 5+ years’ experience in CAM programming, required, 5+ years’ experience in a machine shop and 1+ year experience G & M coding, preferred
  • Knowledge : Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings & GD&T, required
  • Software : 3D CAD, SolidWorks, required

    • Pay : $65,000 - $85,000 / year + Quarterly Bonus

    Type : Full-time, 1st shift, on-site

    Schedule : Monday – Friday 7 : 00 a.m. – 4 : 30 p.m.
