Registered Nurse Perioperative Services (Full Time)

Location : Medical Center - 600 Medical Center Drive, Newton, KS, 67114

As a Registered Nurse at NMC Health, you'll play a key role in assessing, planning, and delivering direct nursing care to both inpatients and outpatients. You'll collaborate with a supportive interdisciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality care and ensure patients and families are treated with dignity, compassion, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and holistic care to assigned patients.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, including IVs, following all safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout the care process.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrate accountability for delegated tasks and safe patient outcomes.
  • Participate in department meetings, quality improvement activities, and continuing education.
  • Float to other units and cover additional shifts as needed to support safe staffing levels.

Qualifications

Education & Experience :

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • International RN education must meet credential evaluation standards if applicable.
  • Licensure & Certification :

  • Current RN license in the State of Kansas (or compact license).
  • Current BLS / CPR certification required.
  • ACLS certification recommended depending on unit assignment.
  • Additional unit-specific certifications may be required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Proficient in patient care across the lifespan.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a caring and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on behalf of patients.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
