CNA / Med Tech Position
Job Location : Rice Estate - Columbia, SC
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the CNA / Med Tech provides direct care to residents, assisting with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and other daily needs while maintaining a safe, clean, and pleasant environment. The role also involves documenting care, observing changes in residents' conditions, and supporting overall facility operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct Resident Care (35%)
Assist residents with hygiene, including bathing, grooming, peri-care, nail care, and oral care.
Support residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning, using assistive devices as needed.Take and record vital signs, weights, and intake / output per facility policy.Provide meal assistance, including serving, feeding, and encouraging fluid intake.Medication Administration (20%)Administer medications as directed and in accordance with prescribed schedules and protocols.
Monitor and document residents' responses to medications, reporting any concerns to nursing staff.Follow proper protocols regarding handling medication, controlled substances, expiration dates, ordering and auditing.Observation and Reporting (10%)Monitor residents' physical and mental conditions, reporting changes promptly to the Lead Resident Assistant or Director of Nursing (DON).
Document all care provided, including vital signs, weight changes, intake / output, and meal consumption.Report unfinished tasks, safety hazards, or equipment in need of repair.Environment Maintenance (10%)Maintain a clean and orderly resident environment, including tidying rooms, cleaning equipment, and sanitizing utensils.
Assist with residents' laundry and ensure the laundry area complies with safety and health standards.Report housekeeping or maintenance issues to supervisors.Resident Support and Engagement (10%)Assist with meeting residents' recreational, spiritual, and social needs, including transportation to activities and religious services.
Provide emotional comfort and support to residents and families.Participate in implementing and evaluating residents' care plans.Compliance and Training (10%)Follow HIPAA privacy regulations to maintain confidentiality for residents and staff.
Attend all mandatory in-services, meetings, and training sessions.Provide compassionate and empathetic care to residents and families.Other Duties as Assigned (5%)Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent.Experience : Prior experience in caregiving or nursing assistant roles preferred.Certification : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in South Carolina, maintained in good standing. Successfully complete community offered Medication Technician training. CPR certification.Skills : Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact empathetically with residents, families, and coworkers. Excellent observational skills and attention to detail. Ability to document care accurately and follow directions. Team-oriented, with a willingness to collaborate and ask for assistance as needed.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and turn, move, and transport patients.Capacity to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physical activities, such as bending, kneeling, and reaching.Work is performed in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and chemicals.Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
