Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital on a Med Surg / Telemetry inpatient surgical unit Unit has 48 beds across two buildings and operates under a primary nursing model Day shift consists of 12-hour shifts starting at 7 AM, with every other weekend required Patient population includes neuro, orthopedic, surgical, and chronic pain cases Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 4-6 at night and 1 : 5-6 on days, with LPN and CNA support RNs interpret their own telemetry strips, using Draeger monitors with support from a monitor tech Allscripts Sunrise is the EMR used for documentation Float requirement is to like units only; if floated to higher acuity, RNs will serve as support without a full patient assignment No call requirements Admissions may include neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, and chronic pain management RNs are supported by LPNs, CNAs, virtual admission / discharge nurses, and respiratory therapy Charge nurse available on days; house supervisor may cover nights Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift plus computer-based modules and competencies Black scrubs are required Holiday coverage is part of the staff rotation Local clinicians are accepted for this position Unit is fast-paced with frequent surgery admits and heavy patient loads Requirements Active IL RN license required Minimum 2 years of acute Med Surg nursing experience Surgical nursing experience required, including total joint cases Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Experience with PCA pumps, reversal agents (narcan), TPN / lipid administration, sepsis management, and heparin drips Ability to interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms Comfort with fast-paced, high-admission / discharge environments Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618274.
