This position is responsible for the engineering and design requirements for new and existing transmission lines throughout the AES Indiana system.
This role provides engineering design for transmission lines and structures, including preparation of specifications, evaluation of proposals, design of line routing layouts and support systems, and field engineering support. It may involve assisting in right-of-way procurement, working with LIDAR data scans, construction management, project documentation, and responding to emergencies including long-duration outages and storm restoration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned tasks applying engineering, planning, and organizational skills.
- Perform engineering calculations for transmission line support systems.
- Assist in planning, design, and construction management of transmission line projects.
- Support root cause failure analysis to prevent future issues.
- Work under supervision, following engineering and construction standards and utility industry guidelines.
- Participate in career development and professional organizations.
- Assist in maintaining transmission design standards and information systems.
- Support Storm Teams and Operating Center to re-energize lines and restore service.
- Complete special projects including research, analysis, and management recommendations.
- Collaborate with suppliers, T&D Planning, Contractors, Line Maintenance, and other technical groups to provide field construction support.
- Provide reports on labor hours, disbursements, and costs for projects; assist with vendor qualifications and property classification for new equipment.
- Assist with project close-out and property records; provide field construction support as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering (Required).Ability to communicate electrical technical knowledge with other engineers and non-technical coworkers; understand and exchange information with Project Management, Operating Center, Fixed Assets, T&D Planning, and other Ops areas.Ability to present facts based on knowledge or research and drive assignments to conclusion.Additional Information
