Senior Lead Diesel Mechanic Location :

  • Charlotte, NC (with travel to Kernersville, NC as needed) About the Role : Envirowaste Services Group is seeking an experienced Senior Lead Diesel Mechanic to take ownership of maintenance operations between our Charlotte and Kernersville locations.
  • This role will serve as the bridge between both shops, ensuring equipment reliability, consistent maintenance standards, and mentoring of other mechanics.
  • The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with 5–10 years of experience in diesel and heavy equipment repair.

  • Lead and perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel trucks, vacuum trucks, and related heavy equipment.
  • Oversee shop operations at both the Charlotte and Kernersville locations, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
  • Coordinate workflow, assign tasks, and mentor junior mechanics to ensure timely and quality repairs.
  • Maintain accurate service records, schedules, and inventory of parts and tools.
  • Collaborate with management to identify recurring issues, recommend process improvements, and support fleet reliability initiatives.
  • Conduct field diagnostics and emergency repairs when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Qualifications :

  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician (vacuum truck or municipal equipment experience preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and support a team of mechanics across multiple locations.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
  • Ability to travel to Kernersville as needed.
