2nd Shift Machinist

Description : As a 2nd Shift Machinist at Mate Precision Technologies , you will set up and operate various types of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers, and complete qualification of the parts produced. Essential Duties / Responsibilities : Set up and work on machines of moderate complexity and difficulty. Inspect work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications. Meet expectations for productivity and quality, and strive for continuous improvement. May train others, troubleshoot, or work with support groups as needed. Participate in continuous improvement practices such as 5S, Kaizen events, value stream mapping or other improvement projects or teams. Work to achieve the work center guideline certification. Follow guidelines established for work scheduling and understand delivery objectives. Report on any machine or process problems. Promote a safe working environment and adhere to established safety guidelines. Promote quality at the source to minimize waste. Will work with the following tools : Micrometers to 6 inches, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches. Dial or digital caliper, .0005 indicator and magnetic base, other tools as required by the specific machines or jobs being run by the employee. Requirements : Qualifications : A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A two-year technical college degree or equivalent is preferred. Experience working with computers and ERP systems. Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, products, and processes. Basic understanding of the machines and basic programming features. Ability to adapt when things change. Experience with inspection devices. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and verbally. Experience with reading prints. Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards. Good understanding of mathematical concepts and terms. Physical Requirements and Work Environment : Frequent walking and standing. Occasional bending and stooping. Use of hand to finger. Lift, move and pull up to 35 pounds. Reach with hands and arms. Noise level is moderate. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
