Summary :
The Radiology Receptionist performs patient scheduling, receptionist and file room duties. The Receptionist greets patients and callers, schedules procedures for the Radiology Department, files film folders and reports, maintains documentation of incoming and outgoing films, and assists providers, Radiology teammates and other departments in locating films. The Receptionist also greets patients, families, and providers, and initiates the documentation flow to record all procedures. The Receptionist sets the tone and the pace for the Department and its daily operation.
Responsibilities :
1. Greets patients and visitors professionally and provides information.
2. Answers telephone and delivers accurate messages to appropriate teammates in a timely manner.
3. Schedules and confirms Radiology procedures and monitors schedule per departmental protocol.
4. Prepares records according to departmental protocol.
5. Ensures requested images and results are prepared and completed by end of work shift.
6. Enters and receives Radiology orders via the computer system. Follows manual procedure when necessary. Ensures written or verbal order is present at time of order entry.
7. Maintains proper sign-out documentation and ensures correct images / CDs and release forms are completed with proper authorization prior to release.
8. Maintains equipment in proper working condition and takes appropriate action when not operational (CD burner, copier, printers, phones, etc.).
9. Records movement of images via computer to proper locations.
10. Utilizes PACS and makes copies of patient images on CD burner.
11. Follows manual procedures during computer downtime.
12. Completes patient search via computer ensuring no duplicate medical record numbers, incorrect procedure date or incorrect work number / requisition date prior to arrival of procedure in main frame.
13. May provide coverage for MRI receptionists when needed.
14. Maintains needed supplies and informs appropriate teammates of inventory shortages.
15. Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements.
16. Actively participates in staff meetings and on committees as requested.
17. Participates in performance improvement activities.
18. Presents and promotes a professional demeanor at all times, establishes high standards of customer service, supports responsibility, pride, and teamwork, remains calm under pressure, and offers reasonable solutions for problems.
19. Demonstrates appropriate interaction with and provides recommended care and services to all patients. Exhibits knowledge and basic understanding regarding the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, and the cultural needs of all patients.
20. Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions. Routinely uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure to self and others.

Professional Experience Requirements :
One-year medical office experience preferred. Experience with registration and patient account collections also preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / and Abilities Requirements :
Ability to follow directions and relay messages accurately.
Valid NC Driver's License : No
If driving a Wayne vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Mgmt.
