Our client is seeking a mid-career EMI / EMC Systems Test Engineer to support qualification testing for military vehicle programs. You will plan, execute, and document EMI / EMC tests, troubleshoot failures, and implement design improvements to ensure system reliability. This role provides an opportunity to work in a hands-on environment, collaborating with engineering teams to deliver mission-critical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform EMI / EMC qualification testing in compliance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, or commercial CISPR standards
- Develop technical documentation including test plans, reports, presentations, and customer deliverables (CDRLs)
- Conduct testing on and around military vehicles, including climbing, harnessing, routing, and securing cables
- Troubleshoot test failures and lead corrective design actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project schedules and budgets
- Travel occasionally to test sites and attend technical meetings
- Manage hands-on testing tasks including handling test items, ensuring proper electrical connections, and maintaining safety requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum 5 years of qualification testing experience; military EMI / EMC experience preferredKnowledge of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464; commercial CISPR experience consideredStrong technical writing skills for plans, reports, and customer deliverablesProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)Ability to work in and around military vehicles, pass ASR test, and perform hands-on cable and harness workSelf-starter with problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasksU.S. citizenship required; must be eligible for a U.S. security clearancePreferred Qualifications
Active U.S. Security ClearanceExperience with ground combat vehiclesiNARTE Electromagnetic Compatibility certificationKnowledge of EMI / EMC design principles, analysis, and standardsExperience procuring test equipment or harness componentsFamiliarity with electrical diagrams (1-wire, 2-wire, assembly drawings)Experience with CAD software (Teamcenter, NX, CREO, CATIA)Understanding of system requirement derivation / decomposition / allocationKnowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and CameoFamiliarity with TEMPEST standards, RED / BLACK separation, and electromagnetic simulationAwareness of electronic degradation from gamma and neutron radiationAdditional Details
