Under the direction of a RN / LPN or practitioner performs basic patient care activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Obtain and document patient vitals.
• Perform bedside testing.
• Perform basic nursing procedures such as oral care, perineal / foley care, non-sterile soaks, or thermal applications.
• Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.
• Clean and store equipment.
• Maintain supply inventory and re-stock as required.
• Perform basic clerical duties as needed.

AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES : Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :

Ø Education – High school diploma or equivalent; plus specialized, short-term training in basic patient care.

Ø Work Experience – clinic setting preferred.

Ø Training – Formal nursing assistant and / or medical assistant training required.

Ø License / Certification – Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS : Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
