Salary : From $30 per hour
Position Overview :
Level 2 technicians are fully trained and capable on the core components of commercial vehicles. Tech should be able to work on any assigned area of the vehicle (with the exception of internal engine, electronic controls, and automated transmissions). A level 2 tech is familiar with repair procedures, shop processes, and can work independently without technical supervision.
Essential Job Functions : The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Level 2 tech should be competent in all Level 1 and Level 2 components as outlined below :
Level 1
- Preventative Maintenance (PMs) : Assist with routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates at peak performance
- Wheel End Maintenance : Learn and perform inspections, repairs, and replacements related to wheel-end assemblies
- Brake Systems : Gain experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining brake systems.
- Basic Electrical : Develop skills in troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical components and wiring.
- Tire Service : Assist in tire mounting, balancing, and general maintenance.
- Driveline Maintenance : Work on driveline components under supervision, ensuring proper alignment and functionality
- Suspension Systems : Learn to inspect, repair, and maintain suspension systems.
- Basic Fabrication : Acquire fundamental fabrication skills to assist in custom repairs and modifications.
- Air Systems : Gain practical knowledge in maintaining and troubleshooting air systems essential for diesel equipment.
Level 2
Bolt on engine components- Defined as anything outside the valve cover or oil pan. Examples include : Manifolds, turbos, water pumps, fan drives, air compressors, etc.Federal Inspections- Meets all the requirements to legally perform federal inspections (DOT inspections) on commercial vehicles.HVAC- is able to perform repairs on HVAC systems, including air conditioning theory and proper recovery machine use.Air Systems- advanced : Is able to perform troubleshooting and repair of more complex air systems such as air compressors, air dryers, and brake valves.Alignments- is able to perform alignments in a satisfactory manner using TSC alignment equipment.Steering- is able to diagnose steering issues and perform repairs. Includes knowledge on testing pressures and flows of steering gears and pumps.Basic Electrical 2 : Is able to troubleshoot electrical systems that involve start and charge issues. Alternators, batteries, starters, etc.CDL- Obtains and holds a CDLRequired skills / Abilities :

High school diploma or equivalentValid drivers licenseStrong work ethic, initiative, andAt least 2 years working on heavy duty trucksPhysical Requirements :
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.Work Environment :
Work in a dynamic shop environment that may include exposure to noise, heat, and mechanical tasks.Strict adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
