The SPCA Westchester and Codys Clinic is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to providing lifesaving care for animals in need. It is our mission to save homeless, abused and abandoned animals and offer them second chances at happy lives. Cody's Clinic is a state of the art, high-volume, high-quality practice offering low-cost care to those in need while also providing medical care for our Rescue Center's animals.
We are currently seeking full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistants to join our talented and compassionate veterinary clinic team. If you have prior Veterinary Assistant experience or are in a veterinary assistant program and support our mission, we encourage you to apply.
The full-time position is 40 hours per week. Monday Friday; if part-time, schedule will be determined based on clinic needs and candidate availability. This position is based out of our newly renovated facility located at 590 North State Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York.
Responsibilities
Assist the veterinarians and technicians during surgeries and treatments.
Provide post-operative care and follow-up.
Keep animals in the required position during exams and procedures.
Clean and disinfect clinic cages and rooms.
Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a vet assistant or currently enrolled in a vet assistant program, preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Positive and friendly attitude and ready to work as a team, as well as independently at times.
Solid organizational skills and able to follow direction and established protocols.
Punctual and dependable.
The ability to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods of time.
