American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position on night shifts, requiring a compact or AZ RN license and strong telemetry skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 30-bed acute care Med / Surg Telemetry (MST / PCU) unit with three 10-bed sectionsPatient population includes post-surgical (orthopedic, GI, gynecological), medical (COPD, pneumonia, infections), behavioral health, substance withdrawal, and chest painNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-612-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; Fridays and Saturdays for nightsHoliday coverage follows a rotating schedule to ensure fairnessRNs are the first to float and may float to the Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit (for adult MST patients), and West Campus Med / Surg TeleCerner is used for EMR documentationRemote Monitor Techs are utilized, but RNs must be able to read their own telemetry stripsMay be required to care for stable CPAP or BiPAP patientsRNs may be asked to precept nursing studentsOrientation includes hospital and unit-level sessions, tailored to experienceDress code allows any scrub color except camouflageNurse aides typically assist with 10-15 patients, but RNs assume full primary care if no aide is presentPassing a sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is required on the first dayFailure of the required tests after two attempts results in a 6-month disqualification for assignments in the Arizona and Sacramento regionsFirst to float status applies for travelersHoliday and low-census standby may be rotated among staff\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at submission; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years RN experience, including at least 1 year in Med / Surg; telemetry experience strongly preferredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust be able to read and interpret telemetry and successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam before contract signingMust be willing to care for both Med / Surg and PCU patient acuity levelsCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityCannot have worked full time, part time, or PRN at a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in the past year\n Benefits\n
