Description
Under general supervision, provides skilled technical support for the Fleet Services Department in relation to the acquisition & purchasing of on-road and off-road vehicles and construction equipment.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to a bachelors degree and three (3) years of experience in business administration, public administration or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the methods, principles, practices of vehicle or equipment acquisition and purchasing; ability to perform purchasing or technical specification writing activities; knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing municipal purchasing programs; ability to prepare and maintain detailed and accurate purchasing records; ability to communicate effectively both written and orally; ability to establish and maintain effective relations with other City departments; ability to deal with people from many backgrounds and cultures; ability to exercise strong problem-solving skills on a daily basis.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
