The Sutter Club was founded in 1889 and is the second-oldest private club in the state of California. The Club moved to its present location at 1220 9th Street in 1930, and continues to thrive as private social club one block from the State Capitol.We provide a sophisticated, inviting gathering place for Members, their families and guests to enjoy comradery, honored traditions, fine cuisine and unrivaled service.
The Sutter Club is hiring part-time Banquet Servers to work at our various events, including luncheons, parties and weddings. Ideal candidates for this position would have experience working as a banquet / catering server or restaurant server, and would have exceptional customer service skills and be a team player.
Reports to : Banquet Captain
Supervises : No supervisory duties are included in this position.

Education and / or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- The ability to read, write and execute basic math skills.
- Prior banquet or wait service experience is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills are required.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Knowledge of all menu items, preparation methods, ingredients, garnishes and wine list.Knowledge of Point-of-Sales (POS) systems and able to enter orders accurately into POS.Ability to execute all service types (i.e., Russian, French, American, buffet, etc.).Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Set up and clean banquet rooms and serve banquets.
Job Tasks / Duties
Performs related banquet set-up tasks.Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating them.Takes food and beverage orders and enters into POS system.Serves food in specified station and assists other servers with running food and drinks as needed.Pours and refills wine, coffee, water and other beverages served with and after the meal.Clears soiled dishes as needed.Cleans all assigned work areas in kitchen and banquet areas.Advises supervisor of any Member or guest complaints as soon as they occur.Assists in closing functions such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for next function.Attends staff meetings including pre-service (line-up) sessions.Consistently follows all food safety-related requirements.Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Banquet Captain(s) and Director of Operations.Requirements
Licenses and Special Requirements
Must possess Food Handlers certification AND Responsible Beverage Service certification, or must be obtained before first work shift.Must be of legal age (18) to serve alcoholic beverages.Physical Demands and Work Environment
Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.Continuous repetitive motions.Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.Benefits
