Principal Engineer – Boiler & HRSG Systems

Pay : $100k-$160k / yearly salary (DOE)

Location : San Antonio TX 78215

Type : Direct hire

Integrity Trade Services is partnering with a major utility company to find an experienced Principal Engineer – Boiler & HRSG Systems to lead the strategic and technical management of the company's boiler and heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to enhancing the performance, reliability, and safety of critical power generation systems.

Position Summary :

The Principal Engineer – Boiler & HRSG Systems will report to the Senior Director of PG Central Support and will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the company's boiler and HRSG systems. This role will focus on ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of these technologies while leading improvement initiatives, managing technical projects, and collaborating with teams across the company to implement best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic & Technical Oversight :  Lead the day-to-day operations and technical management of boiler and HRSG technologies, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Performance Improvement :  Analyze and evaluate operations and maintenance performance. Recommend and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and reliability of boiler and HRSG systems.

Project Management :  Develop project estimates, budgets, and timelines. Oversee equipment specifications, contracts, and outage planning and execution for relevant projects.

Preventative Maintenance :  Generate work notifications and develop preventative maintenance plans to ensure high reliability and minimize downtime.

Inspection & Analysis :  Assist with inspections during outages and overhauls, providing detailed reports on equipment condition and remaining life assessments.

Training & Development :  Lead the development of training programs for operations and maintenance teams on boiler and HRSG technologies.

Collaboration :  Work closely with Engineers, Plant Personnel, and management to develop and implement mitigation plans, process improvements, and system modifications to reduce failures and enhance system performance.

Leadership :  Provide leadership in driving the company's power generation improvement programs, aligning with operational, safety, and financial performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education & Experience :

Bachelor's degree in engineering (or a related field) or equivalent experience in power plant operations or maintenance.

Extensive experience with high-pressure steam boilers and HRSG systems, including technical and operational oversight.

Proven leadership experience in a technical, operational, or management role.

Technical Skills :

Strong understanding of plant operations, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.

Ability to interpret and apply technical documentation such as drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Communication & Problem-Solving :

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.

Leadership & Team Management :

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Collaborative and proactive leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement.

Certifications :

Valid Texas Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire).

NERC Sensitive (required for certain operational activities).

Preferred Qualifications :

Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Texas.

Experience with Alstom, Vogt-NEM boilers, and HRSG systems.

Background in power plant operations or similar industrial environments.
