Overview
Housing Coordinator : Facilities at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore reports to the Director of the Office of Residence Life. The role provides oversight for facilities operations for UMES residential communities, coordinates repairs with Physical Plant / Facilities Management, maintains inventory of furniture, schedules major building repairs and maintenance, assists in developing renewal and replacement projects for the facility, and develops and implements operating policies and procedures. The coordinator must be willing to work flexible hours.
Base pay
$55,000 per year
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate, project, and manage multi-craft activities involved in preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance, cleaning, repair, and renovation of residential buildings.
- Work with the Director of Residence Life / Associate Director to develop long term / multi-year preventative maintenance plans.
- Develop or assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.
- Coordinate regular inspection and cleaning of residence halls and apartments; ensure maintenance requests made by residents are completed.
- Supervise personnel to assist with light maintenance and inventory control; responsibilities typically include hiring recommendations, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
- Maintain compliance with departmental security, audit procedures, and university policy.
- Assist in facility and space usage planning; advise on application of institutional policy, regulations, and standards related to management of physical resources.
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure adherence to university expectations, protocols, and procedures.
- Administer processes for work order completion using work order software.
- Assist in developing and implementing systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit, including digital inventory records.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION : High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE : Three years of experience in student housing, residence life, or directly related field.

Multiple related experiences and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis, with 30 college credits equating to one year of experience.
