About the Role : This position involves visiting long-term care facilities and providing valuable support to dental professionals in delivering quality patient care. As a Mobile Dental Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining clinical records and ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the dentist during patient appointments with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Review and maintain accurate clinical records and medical histories using electronic medical records.
- Ensure documentation integrity and update patient odontograms during each visit.
- Effectively manage instrument and supply delivery to the dentist during procedures.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary treatment area by managing evacuation, cleaning, and drying processes.
- Provide daily updates and collaborate with branch offices to enhance dental scheduling and reporting.
- Efficiently manage patient flow during facility visits and assist with wheelchair transport as needed.
- Generate daily production reports and balance accounts for the dentist after each visit.
- Post dental charges accurately to the appropriate providers in a timely manner.
- Care for and clean all medical equipment thoroughly.
- Diagnose and report equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Schedule and maintain routine maintenance for all dental equipment.
- Ensure the service area is cleaned after procedures.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's appearance and perform basic maintenance tasks.
- Manage dental supply inventory by auditing stock levels and ordering necessary items promptly.
- Optimize resource use to minimize waste.
- Complete preventive maintenance checks to ensure all dental equipment is operational.
- Assist dentists in diagnosis by processing digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
- Exhibit excellent multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and superior customer service skills.
- Possess a strong understanding of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document interactions in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time, willing to service within a 2.5 hour radius.
- Comply with all aspects of the compliance program and ensure confidentiality according to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Adapt positively to changes and undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
High School education or GED required.Experience as a Medical / Dental Assistant is preferred.Must have reliable transportation, a good driving record, and car insurance.Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.Must have a state radiation license or certificate.Proficient in computer skills and medical terminology.Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.Able to follow directions and attentively listen to patients and providers.Physical Demands :
This role requires full mobility including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. It involves standing, walking, pushing, and stooping as necessary. Lifting requirements may vary based on specialty but could exceed 50 pounds. You will also need to be capable of assisting patients in wheelchairs. Good vision and hearing within a normal range are necessary, as well as the ability to work under stress and potentially irregular hours. Some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids may occur.
