Utility Operator
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Utility Operator to support our plant operations in Accokeek, Maryland. This position is primarily responsible or operating multiple pieces of equipment in support of production operations at the quarry.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Drive Fuel Truck - Operate a fuel truck approximately 15% of the time, delivering fuel to various pieces of equipment throughout the quarry to keep operations running smoothly.
- Operate Heavy Equipment - Operate machinery such as dozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment for site preparation, material movement, and loading.
- Assist with Equipment Maintenance - Conduct routine equipment checks (oil levels, tire pressure, fluid levels), report malfunctions, and assist mechanics when needed.
- Material Handling - Assist in transporting aggregates and raw materials across the site using appropriate equipment.
- Site Setup and Shutdown - Assist in daily startup / shutdown procedures for equipment and work areas to ensure readiness and safety.
- Perform General Labor Duties - Carry out general labor tasks as needed, such as shoveling, lifting, site cleanup, and supporting other crews.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education : High school diploma or equivalentField of Study Preferred : N / ARequired Work Experience : A Valid Class A CDL (Tankers Endorsement Preferred). Experience operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes.Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on equipment.Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and varying weather.Strong safety awareness and adherence to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations.Ability to pass a 7-year criminal background check, including felonies and misdemeanors.Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen as required for the role.Good physical condition to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials, as well as stand, bend, and work in physically demanding environments.Basic understanding of quarry operations and material handling processes (loading, unloading, and transporting aggregates).Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, taking direction from supervisors and collaborating with coworkers.Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisorsAdditional Requirements :
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
