Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Associate Director of Student Counseling on the Cumming campus. This position is a great opportunity for a positive and energetic mental health professional to provide mental health counseling, crisis intervention, substance abuse services, and outreach programming to a growing university population on the Cumming campus of UNG. Applicants must be skilled in working with a wide variety of mental health issues in individual, couples, and group formats, be a strong public speaker, and be a welcoming and approachable creative professional that enjoys engaging college students about mental health issues, retention, and success. As Associate Director, the successful candidate will serve as the primary Clinical Counselor for the Cumming campus, including administration of policies / procedures / guidelines and budgetary oversight. The Associate Director will provide consultation to administration / faculty / staff; supervise staff and interns; serve as a member of the University BIT Team; maintain off-campus relationships with service providers and colleges / schools. This position reports to the Director of Student Counseling and requires licensure remain in good standing with the State of Georgia. Must maintain licensure without lapse.

Responsibilities

• Be an outstanding counselor : Consistently provide ongoing mental health clinical services and manage own case load of UNG students involving intake assessments, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention with individuals and groups as needed while maintaining appropriate and timely case documentation and all pertinent records. Remains present and available on campus to provide continuity of care to assigned caseload as well as ensuring ethical and committed care to students on assigned caseload. Participates in on-call duties as scheduled, and as needed, and presents in-person to campus as necessary to perform face to face crisis evaluations both within and after university business hours.
• Campus Service Provider : Contribute / participate in campus events (Open House, orientations, SGA events) representing the department and the Division. Participate in University and campus committees as needed.
• Outreach and Programming : Develop, advertise, and present topical outreach presentations regarding mental health education as needed or requested. Provides consultation services to the campus community and acts as a liaison between the office of student counseling and other campus departments and organizations as directed.
• Consultant : Provides consulting services for administrators, faculty, and staff regarding mental health of students and campus community.
• Crisis Response Leader : Member of campus BIT Team (Behavioral Intervention Team) On-call duties as assigned or needed.
• Supervisor : Supervision and evaluation of staff members in the areas of student counseling (therapy, psychoeducational programming, documentation, referral), and outreach coordination (wellness programming / curricular infusion, substance-abuse assessment and treatment). Ensures all clinician's maintain license needed to continue to practice.
• Responsible for knowing, understanding, and adhering to professional code of ethics of licensure, departmental handbook guidelines, and University policies.
