About Us
Mill Creek Landing Apartments in Hampton, VA is a peaceful waterfront community of 54 apartments, offering an enjoyable work environment. As the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at Mill Creek Landing, you’ll take ownership of daily maintenance operations and work independently to keep the community running smoothly. In addition, you’ll collaborate with and provide support to our skilled maintenance team at River Mews , a larger, dynamic community of 645 apartments and townhomes located nearby in Newport News, VA. This unique opportunity allows you to contribute your expertise at both communities—gaining variety, growth, and valuable experience along the way. You’ll report directly to our Regional Maintenance Manager , learning from his 15 years of experience with Palms and developing your skills under his guidance.
What We’re Looking For
A skilled, driven, and versatile Assistant Maintenance Supervisor who is ready to thrive in a dual-location position, bringing expertise and passion to both communities. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and can balance independent work with the benefits of a supportive, team-oriented environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in property management maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
- EPA HVAC certification REQUIRED
- CPO certification may be obtained through Palms
- Must be able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Desire to lead others and serve as a positive role model and problem solver
- Problem-solving mindset – a proactive, “go-getter” attitude with initiative
- Team player – works collaboratively with a passionate, skilled crew
- Technology savvy – comfortable using MS Office 365 and owns a mobile device for work communication
- Excellent communicator – proficient in English (written and verbal); bilingual a plus!
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the Regional Maintenance Manager in overseeing all maintenance, grounds, and apartment turn operationsSupervising maintenance tasks and ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to company standardsScheduling and prioritizing daily maintenance duties to meet operational needsCompleting work orders and apartment turns promptly and in accordance with Palms’ procedures and deadlinesEnsuring all repairs and services are performed correctly, safely, and on scheduleMaintaining adequate inventory of spare parts and maintenance materials to address common repairs and situationsKeeping the maintenance area clean, organized, and secured when not in useMaintaining a “safety first” attitude across all property operationsProvide support to the maintenance team at River Mews when neededWhat We Offer
