Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Position Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments via telepractice. The TVI will collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to promote student independence and academic success in a remote learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Deliver specialized instruction remotely in areas including :

Braille literacy and reading skills

Use of assistive technology and adaptive devices

Functional vision skills

Orientation and mobility concepts (consultative)

Daily living skills related to visual impairment

Conduct virtual assessments to identify student needs and develop or update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and educational teams to support student learning and adapt curriculum remotely.

Participate in virtual IEP meetings and provide expertise on accommodations and modifications.

Monitor and document student progress and maintain accurate records according to Minnesota state guidelines.

Provide training and support to families and school staff on working with students with visual impairments remotely.

Stay informed about current best practices and telepractice technology for serving students with visual impairments.

Qualifications :

Valid Minnesota Teacher of the Visually Impaired license or eligibility for licensure.

Bachelors or Masters degree in Visual Impairment, Special Education, or a related field.

Experience providing instruction to students with visual impairments, preferably including telepractice experience.

Proficiency with remote learning platforms and assistive technology.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and manage a flexible part-time schedule.
